Rent or own
Courses are usually sold through a portal today: upload, set a price, done. Convenient — until you do the maths. Marketplaces keep double-digit percentages of every sale, page builders take a monthly rent plus a transaction fee, and in both cases you own neither the customer list nor the address your course lives at.
What Lyceum is instead
A course platform that runs on your server. Three parts: the backoffice where you build and sell courses; the public side with catalogue, purchase and learning area; and the database behind it, which is yours.
No revenue share. No monthly rent to a provider. Payment runs through Stripe — their fee stays, but it is considerably lower than with a provider that also acts as the seller.
Who it is for
For the case one operator, several courses. Not for a marketplace with third-party sellers — that decision is deliberate and makes every view simpler, faster and easier to understand.
