Code garage (GitHub): Websites

The GitHub repository is yours

With a programmed website you get full code ownership: all the code of your site lives in your own secure repository on GitHub, the “garage” where your digital property is kept. It belongs to you, no lock-in.

Reachable from anywhere, not trapped on one laptop

The code does not live on a single freelancer's machine, where it would be lost in a handover or a breakdown. It sits safely and versioned in the cloud, reachable from anywhere and runnable at any time. If a device fails or you part ways, nothing is gone: you or another developer can continue seamlessly.

Transparent rather than a black box

Version control means every change is recorded, and you can return to an earlier state at any time. That is professionalism in practice: you get no impenetrable box, but a cleanly documented property.

Why this gives you security

You are not dependent on any single service provider. Should you ever end the collaboration, you take your website with you: the substance of your online presence stays yours, forever.
